Water System

Water is the most important natural resource; water scarcity can create a lot of problem for all living beings. People living in Australia have to suffer a lot during the dry spell due to shortage of water. Severe water restrictions can cause lot of inconvenience. Nearly 70% of the household jobs require water. Throughout Australia people have implemented rainwater storage systems at home and offices to deal with the water shortage problem. Rainwater storage systems help in conserving millions of litres of water annually. It is an environmental and pocket friendly solution. People are saving a lot of water and a lot of money as the dependency on the mains supply has eliminated by almost 70%. In many places rainwater is also being used for drinking purposes.

The rainfall patterns throughout Australia are absolutely fine but the land in most places is hard. The land does not absorb much of water and a lot of rainwater goes as waste in runoff. Rainwater harvesting works on the principle of collecting, storing and using rainwater for various purposes. Rainwater harvesting has also been implemented on a very large scale for the purpose of irrigation. Throughout Australia, the government has taken a lot of steps to conserve water; rainwater harvesting is one such step. Besides rainwater harvesting, water recycling systems and rain gardens are also being used on a large scale for irrigation.

Rain gardens are the best solution for ground water recharge. A natural basin of soil is created and covered with native plants. The runoff rainwater is directed towards the rain garden. The native plants help the water to penetrate through the ground. The sediments and other solid contaminant that come along with water get trapped in the soil and decompose. This way the fertility of the soil also improves.

Grey water is also being considered a good source for irrigation. Grey water is recycled and purified if required and then used for irrigation. This water has nutrients that are good for plants. By recycling grey water a lot of potable drinking water is saved as irrigation requires maximum water. Thus, there is a solution for every water related problem. Dry spell or no dry spell, people in Australia are ready for every situation. Water conservation systems have been installed every where in rural and urban areas, in all kind of industrial, commercial and residential complexes.
